Single paste from Multpile clipboards
« on: September 23, 2009, 03:48:55 PM »
SlickEdit supports multiple clipboards but it seems that you can only paste from one clipboard at a time.  Is it possible to cut text from different places, creating 2 or more clipboards, and then select more than one clipboard to paste into another location?

If this is possible in SlickEdit 14 what is the method?

If it does not work how difficult would this be to implement in the next version of SlickEdit?

There is a way, just backwards from what you said.  You can use Append to Clipboard/Append Cut to add to the current clipboard item then paste that as a single item.

Yes - but also the way joireman described is sometimes useful. I like this feature of PasteLister (a clipboard enhancer for Windows) where you can select a number of clips in a list and paste them in the order they were selected all at once.
@Lee: If you find the time - because you've finished all your scheduled, important tasks 1 week before deadline - don't tell it to Scott and add this feature as well, please ;) And maybe tell it to Scott afterwards...

Hey, how did I become the bad guy here? I'm the guy with the whip trying to get the programmers to add more, More, MORE!!! ;D

Seriously, I try to give the team as much autonomy as possible for implementing small features like this. I believe that we work best on things that interest us. If every task you do is assigned by your manager, then you just feel like a code monkey.

Hey Scott - just kidding, obviously :)
I think you are one of the good guys (HP++) !
Hmm .. if e.g. your blog entries were really YOUR work ;).

BTW: I really miss the names of the authors of the blogs with the new (nice !) design. Intentionally ?

Thanks for the props! In the migration, we somehow dropped the authors' names. As someone who puts a lot of effort into writing posts, I do appreciate having my name on them.

My "Parable of the Cave" post even got included in a book: Real Time Agility by Bruce Powel Douglass. Nice to know that some folks are enjoying them!
