Options Search behaves badly
« on: September 16, 2014, 09:05:30 pm »
Open "Options"
In the search box type "insensitive", but type *very* slowly, maybe 1 character per second - give or take.
(I first noticed an issue when I paused a little partway thru typing a search term)

I've had a few different things happen:
#1: The text that I've typed so far becomes selected, so the next character I type erases the first few characters.
#2: The options dialog flashes.
#3: The options dialog closes.
#4: The options dialog closes and reopens after a short delay - I continue to type through this and those characters get inserted into the edit buffer instead of options.
#5: Slick can't keep up with typing 1 character per second (though, it manages just fine when I type at a normal speed).

Slick obviously keeps an index of words in Options.
Does it keep a history of searches?

It appears to matter if I start searching for a word again.
I can't get Slick to be so slow typing "insensitive" anymore, but when I try some other strings, it does.
"char" seemed to be difficult. (Maybe because there are a lot of potential matches?)

The search is on a timer, so that we don't try to search while the user is still typing.  We are trying to avoid the situation that occurs when you type slowly.

We do not keep a history of searches.
