After I'm doing some editing for a while and want to find a new file to open that is already open.

I go to the "Files" tool window which I have in my left pane and I see that the sorting is case sensitive - which means that files with lower case 'a' are listed after all capital letters. This makes it much harder to use.

After telling SE to sort the files by clicking on the column header, it gets fixed.

However, I would like that it never gets sorted in case sensitive order ever - it should be case insensitive here.

I've attached some screenshots to illustrate what I am talking about

Interesting ... I can't repro it here, but in the past I've complained about numerous sorting issues in this dialog (including case-sensitivity).

Why is sorting here so difficult?
