B6, Windows: Can't paste text from external editor

In v18 I was able to copy text from my IAR compiler editor and paste it directly into SE.  In v19, it pastes something that was copied from SE.  Is this a bug?  How can I paste the Windows clipboard into SE?

It should just paste. Nothing special is supposed to be needed. Platform shouldn't matter either. I think you're on Windows judging from your previous posts.

Try exiting and restarting the editor. Also, make sure you can paste to ANY app (like notepad).

SE crashed while trying to get rid of a GNU project so I restarted it and pasting works now.

This isn't working.  I can't paste from an external program.  I can paste to other programs, but attempting to paste to SE ends up pasting something that I copied in SE a while back.  Restarting SE doesn't work. 

The worst part is that after attempting to copy the URL into SE, SE replaced the Windows clipboard contents so pasting into other programs pasted the contents of the previous SE selection.  Confused?  Here's what's happening:

• Previously copied clip is "http://download.hao.ucar.edu/d5/www/pspt.blue.gif".
• Copy the URL "http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ovation/images/swpc_aurora_map_n.png" from Google Chrome.
• Paste into Notepad to ensure the URL is correct.
• Paste into SE but SE inserts "http://download.hao.ucar.edu/d5/www/pspt.blue.gif" (seen in step 1).
• Go back to Notepad and paste to see that the clipboard now contains "http://download.hao.ucar.edu/d5/www/pspt.blue.gif" (seen in step 1).
• Use capitalized numbers to gently explain the situation ("@$#*&!!!)...

If restarting SlickEdit doesn't help. Reboot your machine.

Rebooting worked, but I'll still keep an eye on it.

Stopped working very soon afterwards.  But I can get it to work if I do the following steps:

• Copy the selection from the external program.
• Paste into SE with the Edit menu.
• Undo bad paste.
• Copy the selection from the external program again.
• Paste into SE with the edit menu.

If I paste using the keyboard (Shift-Ins, Ctrl-V, etc.), it won't work.  It has to be through the Edit menu (Edit->Paste).  I also have to go through the double copy in the external program or else it won't work.

Reboot and try copying text from notepad.

What version of Windows are you running?
