Finding references messes with my tab stops
« on: December 12, 2014, 11:11:46 pm »
Running 19.0.1.1 Win64, when I do 'find-refs' on something, my tab stops seem to get much wider. For instance, screen1.jpg is my screen before finding references, screen2.jpg is my screen after running 'find-refs'.

Haven't reproduced it yet, but I'm taking a look at it.  What do you do to recover the tab width?  Or is it stuck like that till you restart?   And does it fix the tab width of the buffer if you go to Tools -> Beautify -> Edit Current Profile, and then hit "Ok" on the dialog that pops up?

A little more info:

It only affects files that are writable; read-only files don't have it happen.

Restarting fixes the tab width, but so does closing the References tool window, closing the file, and re-opening the file. If I leave the References tool window open when I re-open the file, the problem is still there. However, if the References tool window is open when I initially do 'find-refs', the problem doesn't happen.

Doing Tools->Beautify->Edit Current Profile->Ok does fix the tab width.

I haven't been able to reproduce it.   I may be receiving a config directory from a support case from this week that sounds similar to this.  I wouldn't mind getting your config directory as well;  if you're up for it, we can send you instructions on how to bundle it up and where to upload it.

I sent my config directory to support a few weeks ago, but would be happy to send it again.

I can reproduce it with your config, thanks for the reminder.

Trying to figure out how it's happening now.

Quick update: we're still working on it.  It's not clear if the root cause is hot-fixable yet, but we can probably at least prevent the tabs from being reset with a hotfix if we need to.

There will be a fix for this in the next 19.0.1 hotfix.  Thanks for reporting this.

Using SlickEdit 2014 (v19.0.1.1 64-bit), I have a similar issue when with search.  Once the search results window opens, the tabs stops are messed up.  It doesn't matter if the window is docked or floating.  The tabs dialog shows '1 9 41'.  They should be '1 5'.  I fix this either by selecting Adaptive Formatting and then deselecting it or setting the tabs directly in the tab dialog.

After a while it stops happening with a given file although I don't know why.

Do you think the hotfix will cover this case?

Yes.  That "1 9 41" is exactly the tab stop setting you'll get when the problem manifests.  The hotfix should be out pretty soon, barring accidents.

Any update on the drop date for this hotfix? I'm still encountering this issue daily, slightly annoying...   ;)

Thanks!
