19.0.2.5 Linux complains about license
« on: April 29, 2015, 04:33:20 PM »
Hi,
I've just installed SlickEdit 19.0.2.5 on Debian Wheezy. Everything went OK except the license installation (due to fontconfig?). Anyway copied license file into binary directory, however SlickEdit doesn't recognize the license.

Windows build works OK.

Regards.

If the license file is valid and you copy it to the "bin" directory, SlickEdit should work. If SlickEdit still prompts for a license, that means something is likely wrong with the license file.

Thanks Clark,
That's what I thought, so I downloaded the file again from the website. Didn't work.
Copied from the working 19.0.1 installation. Didn't work.
Used the license dialog that opens when you try to run SlickEdit. Copied generated command and run as root. Didn't work.
diff /opt/slickedit/bin/slickedit.lic /opt/slickedit-pro/bin/slickedit.lic. Both files are the same.
Kind of ran out of ideas after that.
Regards.

Hi smartin,

Sending you a PM so you can send us a copy of your license file...the one that is not working.

Also, does 1901 work if you copy /opt/slickedit-pro/bin/slickedit.lic back into the your /v1901/bin/ dir?

Thanks,

The license you have for 19.0.1 should be okay, are you running 64-bit or 32-bit SlickEdit?  And is this 32 or 64-bit OS?

I am using SlickEdit 64 bit on Debian Wheezy 64 bit. Debian has all patches.

Hi smartin,

Your license had old data in it for some reason which didn't work in v1901 or v1902.  We'll email you a proper working copy of your license file.

Best,

Thanks for the reply, however I just checked my spam box and nothing there (at least from SlickEdit).

Hi,
Unfortunately the license in the PM link is the same as the one I already have that doesn't work. I tried to regenerate the license as well and it still sends the same license.
Regards.
