Odd Window Scroll
« on: April 30, 2015, 07:53:14 pm »
I have the same file open in two windows. In the one that's closer to the top of the file I'm typing on a line. It doesn't change the line count. In the other window, the text is scrolling down as though I was pressing Enter instead of typing.

I've seen something like this when I was typing in a javadoc comment. The attempted comment wrapping was causing scrolling in the non-active window. We're you typing in a comment?

It could have been in a comment. I can't seem to get it to happen again. When it was happening it was very consistent. I scrolled around quite a bit and it happened every time i typed something. Now, in the same file, it doesn't happen at all.

I've seen the same thing, whether typing in a comment or not.  It "felt" to me like the window that was lower was using a byte count, rather than a line count, to determine the start of the view, and when the file was modified above the view, it moved the byte count across a newline, and that's when the scroll happened.  Total conjecture on my part.

That was the feeling I had too: each character I inserted pushed the lower window down by a line and then as I deleted them it went up a line at a time. I don't remember for sure if the line I was editing was comment or not, but I don't think it was.
