Passing command line args while remote debugging with gdb server
« on: February 20, 2007, 05:17:13 pm »
Hi all,
As the title says, I'm trying to get remote debugging working but I can't seem to figure out how to get a command line arg to be accepted. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kieran

Hi,

I have been able to connect remotely to an arm lpc2138 using arm-elf-gdb and the slick edut debugger. I do not need to set any command line arguments to connect and run the debugger myself, but I did notice that there is an "arguments" edit box provided on the Debugger options/configurations tab.  Have you tried that and it didn't work?  Also, there is a .gdbinit file which gdb reads when starting up.  You may be able to set up your arguments there.

Hi Tim,
Thanks. It turns out it's very simple, one just has to specify it at the gdbserver end as in

gdbserver my_prog my_args

Just in case anyone else needs to know. :)
Also I did try the "arguments" box you mentioned but it must not apply to gdbserver as it did nothing.

Thanks
Kieran

Kieran,

Sounds like you didn't need any help after all....

      Good luck,
