Ctrl-. vs Search->Go to Definition
« on: February 22, 2007, 05:42:36 pm »

SlickEdit 11.0.2, WinXP

If I put the cursor on a symbol, it's definition is displayed in the Symbol window; Ctrl-. and Ctrl-/ work as expected.

If I use Search->Go to definition, the symbol won't be found.

Why are the two out of synch?

(Note that Search->Go to def... is not always broken, I'm just noticing it today in one particular project with a few symbols.)

In v11.0.2, Search > Go to Definition runs gui-push-tag and Ctrl+Dot runs push-tag. gui-push-tag searches for all symbols that contain the specified match string. push-tag only presents a list of exact matches.

In our next release, both of these will execute push-tag. gui-push-tag is being replaced by the Find Symbol tool window.
