20.0.3 blew away my user settings!
« on: May 31, 2016, 04:58:19 PM »
The release notes mentioned some SystemVerilog fixes, so I decided to grab the update. Installed over 20.0.2.1 on RHEL 6, no issues. I launched and discovered my color scheme was no longer correct. Further investigation reveals nearly all my customizations are blown away. OK, I figured, I'll roll back to 20.0.2.1 (fresh install in new directory), since the 20.0.2 directory in ~/.slickedit is still there, and figure out what went wrong later. If only! It seems that the 20.0.3 update overwrote the 20.0.2 settings in place before creating the 20.0.3 directory.

Fortunately, I've got backups, and I tried replacing the 20.0.2 directory with a good one, and doing a fresh install of 20.0.3 - no dice. Same thing, many settings blown away, including the deletion of my alias file (alias.als.xml).

What's going on? Has anyone else seen this?

Hey other me!  ;D What OS are you running? I've installed 20.0.3 on two Windows machines and haven't seen this.

Edit: Both machines are 64 bit, one is Windows 7, the other Windows 10. In both cases I installed 32 bit SlickEdit.

I had the same thing happen with mine. I've got a custom dark color scheme and upon opening 20.0.3 and copying of the 20.0.2 to the 20.0.3 config my colors were reset. Selecting my profile did not correctly apply either. I reverted back to 20.0.2 until I have time to manually copy over all my options.

I am Windows 10 x64, and did not see this problem when I upgraded.

@ Other Me
This happened on Red Hat 6.8 (Santiago). I have a MacOS install of SE as well, with no issues from the update.
I'm running on a virtual machine and had just applied a big update from RedHat, so thinking that might be the culprit, I went back to a previous snapshot before the update - same thing, only this time it didn't seem to alter the original 20.0.2 settings folder, but the 20.0.3 is a disaster.

I answered too quickly. I have found that some settings didn't transfer correctly. My display settings seem to have made the transition, but others didn't.
