Encoding documentation
« on: August 03, 2016, 07:06:14 PM »
The documentation on Encodings in slick is pretty slim.
The Encoding page offers a little descriptive text for the Auto options, but very little on what exactly the others are (such as Text, vs Text sbcs/dbcs, or Binary vs BInary dbcs).

Also, seems a little out of date - since Slick seems to now support fixed-fonts in unicode. I'm not sure about the tab thing.

Unicode Limitations
The following is a list of Unicode limitations:

Proportional font tab character expansion is not yet supported. Since Unicode support requires the use of proportiona fonts, tab expansion is not fully supported.

Tabs are not quite right for Unicode yet. The tricky part with fixing it is how to do it without breaking a ton of existing macro code. That's the real issue.

There's no such this as a fixed font when you're editing Unicode. The check box for fixed font may have been selected. You may think you are using a fixed font. I promise you there is no such thing. Proportional font calculations are done on these so called fixed fonts.

We will take a look at the encodings docs. These Binary and Text encodings are pretty new.
