Organize All Workspaces
« on: August 20, 2016, 01:36:12 am »

This dialog could use a lotta-love.

#1
The big list looks like it has 2 columns, but you cannot manually size them.
I've had the 1st column get resized to about 16 characters wide - it happens sometimes when I "Add folder".
I couldn't fix it, though closing it and opening it again fixed it.

#2
The 2nd column for just one of my workspaces shows the selected project "foo.vpj".
Even though C:\src\sdk\sdk.vpw is listed several times in the main list, and each one has a non-empty project (in the "Project" field), just one instance of this workspace has a project listed in the 2nd column of the list area.

Seems wierd to have each line be a workspace + project combination.
Seems like if projects are going to be here, the workspace should be like a Folder, and the projects show up under it.
Or are least, the project name should reliably show in the list.
Better: Make the list be 4 columns: Index, Caption, Workspace Name, Project Name.
Sortable, of course.

#3
Create folder A
Create folder B in A.
Select a workspace that is above A.
Move it down into A
Move it down again - it should go into B, but it disappears because "B" isn't expandable.

#4
Move Up has "U" underlined.
Move Down should have "D" underlined.

#5: Up and Down (especially Up) behave badly when you have nested folders.
If you have
  A
     b
   Wk1
  wk2

Now select wk2.
Attempt to move it up above "A".
You can't. It gets stuck in "b"

#6
Pick any workspace.
Fill in "Caption" with "HelloWorld".
Close OAW.
Open OAW.
Select that same workspace.
The "Caption" field is empty.
#6a: The caption field should fill in with "HelloWorld".
#6b: There is no way to revert to no-caption.

#7 Say you have workspace "foo.vpw" open.
And foo.vpw shows up in OAW several times, each time with a different project.
Select any of them and "Open Workspace" is disabled.
Really weird - it should not be disabled.
It ought to open that workspace (a no-op), and select that project.

#8 Instead of Up/Down/MoveToFolder just support drag-n-drop.

#1

Improved for beta 4. Auto sizes columns to largest workspace name. Not manually sizable yet.

#2

With the current implementation, workspace/projects can be in any folder and don't have to be adjacent.

A lot of problems with the project name not showing up have been fixed for beta 4.

#3
Fixed for beta 4

#4
Fixed for beta 4

#5:
This was pitiful.

Fix for beta 4.

#6

Fixed for beta 4

#7

For beta 4, it just always in enabled for any workspace.

#8
Maybe later  ;D

On Beta 4, the first time I opened this a number of workspaces had a 2nd column populated with a project name.
On 2nd invocation of OrgWrk, none of the workspaces have their 2nd column populated anymore.

Seems like most workspaces are listed twice, once with an empty "Project" field, and once with a populated "Project" field.

I added a 2nd project to my workspace. Opened OrgWrks, that project shows up.
Close OrgWrk, and reopen it - and now that project doesn't show anymore.

Also, the projects are sorted backwards -- the most recent is on the bottom.
The most recent should be on top.
No -- I take that back.
They apparently get scrambled.

And ... 2 out of three instances of the current workspace are bolded.

What happens if you try a clean config? The new code doesn't fix existing problems.

I don't know why you added one and then it went away though.

Found a problem. Here are the steps to reproduce.

Start with a new config
Display Organize All Workspaces
Notice that the captions are blank. This is correct.
Close the dialog (this causes the problem)
Display Organize All Workspaces again.
Captions are not blank. This is a bug.

Fixed for next build.
