Freeze on new install
« on: September 08, 2016, 06:22:32 PM »
Did a new install of Beta 5 x64 on a win 8.1 system (no 2016 beta ever installed on this machine). Made it through the config migration (from 2015 20.0.3) and it asked for my license. I hit Install a license file and Browse for license file... and the dialog never comes up. Eventually Windows recognizes as not responding and I need to kill the program. It's repeatable every time right now. Subsequent launches skip the migration step (migration finished correctly) and goes directly to the No License Found dialog.

Let me know if I can grab anything for you to help debug.

When there's no license found, it's supposed to prompt you for a license. It's skipping this process?

Try manually copying your license file into "c:\Program Files\SlickEdit...beta5\win". After doing this can you start SlickEdit?

If it doesn't run, try a clean config:  win\vs -sc  <some-new-dir>

I did some quick testing on Windows 8.1 and didn't have any problems.
