slickedit 2015 doesn't work on macos Sierra
« on: September 11, 2016, 10:14:19 AM »
for some reasons, I just upgraded to macos Sierra (10.12) few days ago, and slickedit cannot run over it. it shows nothing in the screen.

besides waiting for new version of 2016, is it any workaround I can perform now on slickedit 2015.

Thanks!

Can you generate an installer for standard edition slickedit 2015 for Sierra also.  It is not working with that version either.

Those links no longer work and the "se_20000300_mac" version is still the one showing up on my registered products page.

Contact support. We've had some system failures.

Since downloading from the above link then I can see the SE window and use SE etc BUT... now when I alt-tab back to SE then the focus mysteriously always goes to the 'Open' tool window instead of the main edit window. As I alt tab back to SE then I actually see the cursor in the main edit window for a split second and then it always jumps to the 'Open' tool window instead? How to fix this because it's crippling my SE experience :-(

Called SlickEdit support but they refused to help because I didn't have the support credentials handy :-( They suggested writing a forum post... and I told them that nobody is reply to my forum post :-(

The only slight workaround to the focus problem I have found so far is the following: After alt-tabbing back to SlickEdit, when it switches focus from the edit window then hit the ESC key which changes the focus back to the edit window. This is slightly better than re-selecting the edit window with the mouse.

I guess you've tried closing and re-opening the open tool window?
Do you have the open tool window docked or floating?
If you close the open tool window does the problem go away - or where does the focus go to?
You could try running slick with a brand new, empty configuration folder and see if the problem goes away.
vs.exe +new -sc c:\some-empty-folder
If the problem goes away, try exporting your options from your old configuration folder and importing them into the new one.

Also, in tools -> options -> application options -> general  - try turning off "Activate open tool window".
And in appearance -> ToolWindows -> options, try enabling "Hide when application is inactive".

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have tried with the open tool completely hidden and then the focus instead jumps to the bottom search results pane.

I tried the two config suggestions but neither make a difference... but I learned about some new config options :-)

I have yet to try starting slick with a new config folder.
