OS X Recursion too deep during FTP
« on: September 26, 2016, 07:06:59 pm »
I'm running the RC3 beta of SE 2016 on OS X. Getting "Slick-c Recursion too deep" errors during FTP session and here are the steps to reproduce.

1. Start SE 2016 RC3
2. Have a file that saves to an FTP server
3. Save said file (SE will ask to upload)
4. FTP session dialog lets you choose which server
5. (At this point, no sessions are active) SE tries to disconnect from targeted FTP server
6. Times out and gives "Recursion too deep" error

Another way to reproduce. (Also happens on SE 2015)
1. Start SE 2016 RC3
2. Attempt to start an FTP session to a server that you cannot reach (either VPN is off or hostname is incorrect)
3. Times out and gives "Recursion too deep" error and pops up a dialog showing values.

Questions:
1. FTP or SFTP (I could not reproduce with either)?
2. Can you reproduce with a clean config (e.g. temporarily rename your 'Application Support/SlickEdit' folder)?

It would also be helpful to go to <config>/logs/stack.log and give Rodney the Slick-C stack dump.

Hi,
I was using SFTP. I have attached the stack.log file and I will try now with a completely clean config.

Thanks,
Rob

Well a clean config seemed to help quite a bit. I wasn't able to interrupt it before and abort the connection before the recursion error.  Now I can.  Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind. I can reproduce it on Sierra.

Just to be clear, this still happens with a clean config, correct?

This will either be fixed in the final release, or in the first hotfix. Thanks for the report.
