I am trying to open a file from a remote computer, but when I try opening it in SE, I see a blank file.

For example, I paste this into the Smart Open dialog for directory:

\\dsplab7001.mh.lucent.com\d$\CI\logs

then I navigate to a file, and double click it:

It opens an empty file.

Furthermore, the path given for this file in the title bar is:

"C:\Program Files\SlickEdit Pro 21.0.0\console.20161019_1123.log"

not the shared drive.

A workaround is that I go into the smart open dialog and double click on the "logs" subdirectory (last directory in the full path).

After this, when I double click on the console.20161019_1123.log file, it uses the right path and I am able to open it.

Definitely something odd going on here. We will look into this.

It's too picky at the moment.

\\dsplab7001.mh.lucent.com\d$\CI\logs

Doesn't work but...

\\dsplab7001.mh.lucent.com\d$\CI\logs\

should work for you. A trailing backslash shouldn't be necessary. We will fix that.

Yes, that does work. But was not obvious. Would be better if I did not have to do that. I think it was OK in version 20.

This will be fixed in the next hot fix.
