I would request that when you release a new version of SlickEdit you default SE settings such that the new version works *exactly* as the previous version did.  Having to muck through the vast myriad of SE config settings to make SE behave as it previously did is too time consuming and a barrier to upgrade.  My two cents.

A very good point about fulfilling user expectations, but nevertheless, when you let the new version create a new configuration folder out of your current version's configuration folder on first starting the new version, the upgrade process does preserve or migrate your current settings (I think new features get some kind of default settings). There's no need to start out with an empty new configuration folder.

But I haven't extensively dug around in my own upgraded settings, so I may be wrong...
