Unable get multiple file tabs when opening a new file

I'm new to Slickedit and I set it up to emulate emacs. One thing that I cannot seem to get to work is multiple file tabs. When I open a new file it replaces the old file and takes up the whole window with no tab. Other users here get multiple tabs that allow you to just click on the tabs to open the file. I have to reopen the file every time I want to switch to another file. I have gone through all the tool->Editing->Editor Windows and File Options to no avail, even copyied other users settings exactly. Would anybody here have any ideas why I cannot get this to work. Everything is pretty much default other than a few key bindings.
SlickEdit Pro 2015 (v20.0.0.12 64-bit)
Build Date: November 10, 2015
Emulation: GNU Emacs
OS: Windows 7 x64
OS Version: 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1
Project Type: Gnuc
Language: .cc (C/C++)
Encoding: Automatic
Thanks in advance
Tom

Try running zoom-window. I don't know what it's bound to in emacs. In CUA it's Ctrl-Shift-Z. It make the current window take up the whole application. Sounds like what you are seeing. It works fine from the command prompt too.

What's odd is that there is a "zoom (hide tabs) when one window" option in "Tools->Editing->Editor Window" that didn't make a difference no matter how set, but Ctrl-Shift-Z worked fine.

SlickEdit is very feature rich, which is usually a great thing. But, like many other programs that have been around a long time and grown organically, some features that seem like they would be related, aren't.

Yeah - sometimes it would be nice to have the inorganic version with all the same features (at least the ones that *I* care about
), but reorganized from top to bottom without regard to history - and all the features would work seamlessly together.
