Unicode on x64 Vista
« on: April 28, 2007, 04:33:38 pm »
Hi,

I guess it's because of the x64 OS, either it's Vista or not, but I just can't make SE display Unicode files properly.

I wrote some UTF8 files, which include Japanese characters, on a x86 machine, and copied them to a x64 machine. SE on these PCs have the same setting about encoding, "Auto Unicode" in Tools>Options>File Options, and "Automatic" in File Extension Setup.

They can be displayed without problem on x86, but not on x64. Although these UTF8 files had BOM, I tried to do the same thing with UTF16 files with BOM just in case it's related to endianness, but SE couldn't display UTF16 files on x64 either.

What's wrong with SE (or me)? Any help would be appreciated.

Additionally, I just noticed that I cannot even edit Japanese MBCS text files with SE on x64 Vista.

As I type in characters, they look fine while IME is displaying the characters, but once the input has done and SE receives them, SE display them as some totally wrong sequence of characters.

Isn't there any fix about it?
