Ability to stay in column/block editing mode.
« on: February 18, 2015, 10:28:43 PM »
Ability to be in block (column) mode vs. line mode. Currently, when Ctl-B is selected for block mode it is only good for one operation and then the editor reverts back to line mode. There are cases when dealing with data dumps etc. where repeated column\block operations are required. A sticky column mode would be useful here. Currently, I switch over to Boxer for this task. See Boxer for reference.

If it was up to me, "chm help" or whatever it's called would be banned from the planet coz it doesn't allow you to search for a sequence of words.
There is a pdf of the help that allows you to search for a "string", though it took Adobe many years to come up with decent search capability in pdfs.

What's wrong with the forum software, the posting web page is all screwed up... on both Chrome and Internet Explorer.

Ability to stay in column\block editing mode. Maybe this is already implemented in
v2014. I am using v2011.

Currently, Ctl-B enters block mode, once the text is deselected, SE returns to
line\stream select mode. When working with lots of blocks, it would be nice to
stay in block mode.

Agreed, it seems to run off the right side of the screen in both typing and
preview mode for me. I am using Firefox.

I have been typing up my responses in an editor and then pasting into the text box
right after a clicking "Reply". That seems to work. If you start typing and run
off screen, that box will never recover. Just click away to the forum listing and
click Reply again to start a new dialog. Then paste the text in, Preview, and
submit. No in-box editing. But, sometimes that doesn't even work. I am having
trouble with this response even pasting into a new Reply. I will just apply
"Paragraph Reformat" from the Paragraph menu in Boxer and force a text width
limit.

Took a long time. No regex support though. Bummer.
