Copy contents of an error message
« on: April 30, 2015, 03:22:57 PM »
It would be convenient if error messages allowed the user to copy the contents or save as a text file. Currently, the user has to take a screen shot to provide the information with a forum post.

See attached image. The dialog for vsapi.dll does not allow copy or save as.

Have you tried Ctrl+C when the dialog is up?  I haven't tried any recently, but I have successfully copied the text of the dialog using that technique in the past.

No, I didn't. I couldn't select anything so I figured there would be nothing to copy. I will try Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C next time.

Just Ctrl+C.  It's actually a little-known Windows thing in the base dialog class.  Or something like that.  It's not an SE thing.

I think the built-in Ctrl-C support is just in the basic MessageBox-style dialogs, but I could be wrong.
