Folder View->Directory View not showing files
« on: March 09, 2017, 12:37:00 am »
With 21.0.2 Win10x64, the Directory View in Projects requires a refresh when opening a directory folder in order to show files within the folder.

I haven't tested this extensively but I get the feeling you may need to know that I use wildcards exclusively in my project for finding files... I've reproduced this on two computers. This works fine in 21.0.1

I couldn't reproduce this with a simple wildcard and a couple directories in Directory View. I left the workspace open and opened and closed the directories while adding files at a command prompt. Also tried closing and reopening the workspace and adding files.

Not sure what you could be doing different.

+1, I met exactly the same issue in almost all my projects.

Reproduce steps as below:

1. Create below file structure:

/nobackup/projects/test$ tree
.
|-- test
|   `-- src
|       |-- Makefile
|       `-- hello.c
|-- test.vpj
|-- test.vpw
|-- test.vpwhistu
`-- test.vtg

2. Add Tree with this filter:
Incl: *.c;*.h;*.reg;*.regc;*.regh;*.em;*.sh;Make*;*.tpp;*.tdl;*.sm;*.cdl;*.mk;*.stg;*.rc
Excl: .acme*/;.ACMEROOT/;.VDEROOT/ ;.ACME/;.CC/

3. Change Folder View to Directory View

4. Then you can only find the "Makefile" in test/src, the hello.c disappeared until you refresh the project.

Looks like something went wrong before step #3. hello.c is already missing after step #2. Thanks for the example.

An issue with wildcard refresh in the project tree was introduced in v21.0.2 release.  It is not hotfixable.  Please contact customer support www.slickedit.com/supportcase with your version information and we will see what we can do to get you a fix.

I feel the quality of Slickedit is not as good as before. Recent feature breakages and hotfix recalls are not good signs. Actually I cannot trust the new Slickedit releases after the v21.0.0 keeping crash on my machine and force me back to v20... Slickedit is my favorite, but the terrible quality scared me.

Unfortunately, I agree. I'm looking forward to seeing this year's version in hopes that it's pushing for more stability than features. I've resisted using eclipse for a long time with the feeling that I feel quick using SlickEdit and loyalty after about 10 years of SE being my primary editor but now but I'm dealing with crashes or dramatic performance issues on a nearly daily basis.

So I figured I would wait for next point release to get this but it has now been almost two months without a new one. Is this not affecting everyone using wildcards or are wildcards not used very often?

I will send you both a repaired vsapi.dll in a PM. This fix will also be built into SlickEdit v21.0.3.

Any news on when we get a new official release that does contain this bug? Having users in our company installing files by hand sucks.
In general I agree with the other guys, that the quality of Slickedit is getting worse. Fixed bugs is always getting back when installing a new release, plus some new ones :-(

I'm using SlickEdit Pro 2016 (v21.0.2.0 64-bit) for Linux and I'm seeing the same thing. I also use the wildcard feature. FWIW, my experience with SE isn't as bad as some of the reports I'm seeing. I've recently updated from v19.something and this current version seems quite a bit more reliable. It's also better than other editors/IDEs I've tried.

Download 21.0.3. It fixes the problems indicated in this topic.
