v22 Beta2 startup window size
« on: August 15, 2017, 02:02:37 PM »
Beta 2 doesnt seem to remember the size of the window when it was closed ... it always restarts at 1200x1024 (minus the title bar).

Any ideas?

Make sure there isn't a hidden instance of slickedit running. Also, check if the date of vrestore.slk is changing when you exit.

There is not a hidden instance.

I seemed to be able to isolate this to an option in Languages->File Extension Manager->Encoding

I need ALL files to be UTF8, and if this is set to UTF8 then the problem seems to happen and the window always starts in the 1200x1024.

However, if I set to "UTF8, no signature" then the window seems to restore correctly.

Please post your program information under help about.

Is it the main mdi window that is the wrong size or a floating window?

It's the main application window.   Attached a screenshot of the entire app window (again, 1200x1024 minus the titlebar, which seems to be the default size).   This is after setting the Languages/File Extension Manager/Encoding to "UTF8", and restarting SE.  Of course, the window was much larger than that when I exited.

Setting it back to "UTF8, no signature", and then adjusting window size will correctly restore it after exit/restart.

Reproduced

Thanks for figuring out which option is causing this.

Fixed for beta 3

vrestore.slk needs to be written without a signature and this change had the side effect of putting a signature on vrestore.slk.
