File -> New request
« on: August 10, 2017, 05:32:51 PM »
It sure would be nice to be able to type a full path + filename into a single edit box.
Its very unnatural for me to have the filename first, then the path in separate boxes.

Instead of popping
---------------------------
SlickEdit Pro
---------------------------
Filename must not contain a path
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Just auto-fix it.

I definitely understand.

It's a bit of a UI problem. It looks nicer to separate the path from the name. Even if the Filename was really long, it still doesn't seem as user friendly and clean to put them together.

Try loading this tweaked beta2 workspace.e. It's missing completion for the Filename argument. I added that to mine but I think it will confuse users.

Can we get the version with completion-enabled?  I know I'd rather have completion (and don't think I'll be confused by it).

How about we turn on completion once you type a path? The only downside is for the first part of a relative path. Once there is a slash or a drive letter, you will get completion.

That would work ... you can always type ".\filename"

Does completion get turned off again if I deleted the leading ".\" ?

No. Once you close the dialog and bring it back up then it starts with no completion.

I'd certainly be fine with that (requires closing dialog to reset/disable completion).

JPorrkkahtc, that okay with you?
