Encoding options
« on: September 18, 2017, 07:30:44 pm »
So, I'm trying to make sense of encoding options...
Usually when I create a new file in Slick I get SBCS/DBCS encoding - not what I usually want.

I think I have it figured out, but its harder than it should be.
I commented in the Suggestions area.

As I was poking around here I found a couple of bugs.

BUG #1:
Expand Tools > Options > Languages > Miscellaneous Languages > Plain Text > File Options: Note that LineFormat setting. For me it was (LF)
Set Tools > Options > Languages > All Languages > File Options: LineFormat to (CR).
   Click APPLY.
Go back to PlainText: Note that the LineFormat field is not updated to (CR).
   Close Options.
   Open options.
Go back to PlainText: Note that the LineFormat field is now (CR).

If I then expand any other language, its LineFormat field is displayed correctly.

BUG #2:
Goto Tools > Options > Languages > All Languages > File Options
Click on the "Option" column for "Load as binary" (which is "Languages Differ").
   It gets changed to "Off".
There is no way to get back to "Languages Differ" without cancelling out of Options.
Just clicking this field shouldn't change the value.

You should be able to expand the drop down even without changing the value.
You should be able to click this line in options without changing the value.

Worse: Click any of the empty space below the 5 lines and LoadAsBinary is changed.

HELP Bug:
   In HELP, Managing File Extensions:
"If the extension-specific encoding is set to Default"
By "Default" does it mean "AUTOMATIC"?  -- as Default isn't an option
