How do you upgrade?
« on: October 24, 2017, 11:36:34 am »
It seems silly that I have to ask this but I really can't seem to find any information on how to upgrade from 2017 from 2016. I have downloaded the new MSI installer from my products page and when I go to install it gives no indication that it is even aware of my previous installation. It wants to create a new install in a different folder. I just want it to use my "C:\Program Files\SlickEdit" directory as I have no need to keep multiple versions of this editor on my machine. Since, I have been burned before with these things I thought I would just ask this time.

We do always install to a new directory, and don't upgrade existing directories.  You can uninstall the earlier version after you install the newer version, if you want.

You won't lose of your configuration when un-installing the older version, user configuration is kept outside of the install directories, by default under My Documents\My Slickedit Config.
