AutoHotFix in Admin.xml for SlickEdit 2017
« on: November 06, 2017, 05:38:26 pm »
AutoHotFix seems to be broken again in SlickEdit 2017. I updated Admin.xml in the base install directory after installing 22.0.0. When I downloaded the new se2200_9 hotfix to my AutoHotFix directory and restarted SlickEdit, it doesn't notify me of the new hotfix.

I'm running on Windows 7 x64.

Do you have prompt="1"? When prompt is set to "1", it notifies me.

When prompt is set to "0", there is no message. On exit, the hot fix is installed. When you restart, you should see the hot fix is installed (Help>Product Updates>List Installed Fixes).

prompt is "1":
    <AutoHotFix menuItem="1" prompt="1" directory="C:\Users\bej\SlickEdit\AutoHotfix\" />

But I just started SlickEdit with an alternate configuration (which is why I use the autohotfix ... easy to make sure both get updated), and it did prompt me. So I don't know why I didn't get the prompt from my main config.

Is there something in the config that might affect whether auto hotfix works? I'm seeing the same problem on my home Windows 10 PC. But if I start VS with a new config, it immediately notifies me that an update is available.

I do see under Application Options/Notifications that I don't have anything disabled and specifically, "Updates: Auto Hot Fix", is set to "Status line icon with pop-up", but I don't get any notification or pop-up when running with my normal config.

I downloaded the 22.0.0 hotfix 10 to my auto hotfix directory, and I did get prompted to install it when I restarted SlickEdit. (Same config that I didn't get prompt for hotfix 9.)

Glad it worked for you. If you have a problem again, please post your vrestore.slk and user.cfg.xml. These two files have all configuration settings related to auto hot fix updates.
