smartPaste and Indent Style are not compatible
« on: November 27, 2017, 01:39:49 pm »
Hello,
It looks like smartPaste works only if you set the Indent Style to 'Syntax Indent'.
These two options both live in the Languages/Your Language (PJP for me)/General tab.

I would like to benefit from smartPaste feature while having Indent Style set to 'auto'.
From what I read in the corresponding help page, Indent Style should only impacts where the cursor is put when you hit the Enter key, and so, should not interfere with spartPaste option...

Does anyone knows what I could be missing here ?
Thanks in advance.

Jerome C.

Just curious. Do you really want SmartPaste on and the indent style set to "auto"? SmartPaste and the enter key use the same smarts. If the Enter key isn't smart enough, I wouldn't think you would be happy with SmartPaste either. Anyway, that's why I think these two features are tied together.

Hi Clark, sorry for this late reply I had not seen your post while I was on vacations.
In fact I need smartpaste when pasting block of codes: I can benefit for an automatic adjustment.
I am however not happy with Enter behavior with indent style set to 'syntax indent': 'auto' is a bit better, but in this case SmartPaste does not work at all.
I have also discussed this topic through  CAS-70247-TPW2 case. Apparently some action will be taken on your (SlickEdit) side to make more obvious the link between these two controls.
