Hello,
I could not find a way to have SE (standard 2017) create new tabs (when opening a file for editing) next to the current one.
Is there a setting that could force this ?
Thanks for your time.

Right click on the Document Tabs to get the context menu and look at the "File Tabs Sort Order" submenu.  If you use "Most Recently Viewed" anything new you create will be placed in the first tab, to the left of the current tab.  If the most recently viewed option isn't for you, you might want to choose Manual and move the tab where you want it after opening a new file.

Thanks Dennis !
I had never thought of right-clicking on the "Document" tab !
When I did this I saw your "Files Tabs Sort Order" sub-menu.
I also find this other one : "New file tab position", which is the one I had been looking for for days...
Thanks again, I would not have found it without your reply : I was looking for completely elsewhere in the options...
