I have an existing workspace open and want to create a new project to add to it. The new project actually creates a new workspace an opens that as part of creation. Then I close that workspace, go to the first workspace and add the project. The workspace for the added project is not really used at that point.

Is it OK to delete the abandoned workspace?
Is there a way to create a project without a workspace?

When you bring up the new project dialog, there should be a radio button that allows you to add the new project to the currently open workspace.  It's to the right of the project type list, towards the bottom.

Got it. Thanks. I should have spotted that.
