add-multiple-cursor-up|down behavior similar to multiple-selection
« on: September 07, 2018, 05:01:51 PM »
This might be considered a feature request, but it could also be considered "maintaining behavioral consistency".
(also applies to earlier version of SE)
When performing an add-multiple-cursor-up|down, it would be nice to have behavior similar to selecting a block of text (shift+up|down-arrow). For example, if you shift+down-arrow 10 lines, but that is a bit too much and you shift+up-arrow, it shortens the selected block. With add-multiple-cursor-up|down, if you add-multiple-cursor-down 10 lines, but that is a bit too much and you add-multiple-cursor-up, it doesn't subtract a multiple cursor, it just walks back up the ladder until you are adding more cursors at the top of your selection.

That would be better.

As a workaround, use undo if you go too far.

Undo works great for this, but you can also use block select, then Ctrl+Shift+| to convert the block selection to multiple cursors.
