git: History Diff and renamed files
« on: October 03, 2018, 08:35:22 pm »
git history diff still fails on files that have been renamed or moved in the repo.

Today I was doing history diff on such a file, and Slick gave me a stack for each version I clicked.

Then I found I could not close the history diff window.
I was about to terminate the process, then I tried Shift+Ctl+Space to edit the dialog -- this let me escape!

I'll upload the stack.log to support.

I got it to give errors that it can find the file on disk but not in the revision, but I'm not getting any stacks so far.

Clone this repo: https://github.com/jporkka/renames.git
Open the file dir2\censusftp.py
Git History Diff.
Click thru the versions -- complains about each.
Set the left version drop down to "local file".
Click thru the versions -- now you get stacks, or at least I get stacks :-)

I'm working on this but can't promise it will make the 23.0 release, but it will get fixed.
