Did you close the other diff when you closed the original multi-file diff?

Did you get the Slick-C stack before it crashed?

Can you send me your (config)/23.0.0/user.cfg.xml?

Yes.  I closed the diff and multi-diff tool to go the the editor. After a little thought I decided to merge the changes so I did a new multi-diff of the same two directories.

No, I didn't see one.

I have attached my user.cfg.xml.

I just did a number of diffs with no crashes.  I tool a break for a few seconds to talk to someone, pressed a single character and SE crashed.  This time I got the usual dialogs but did she the Slick-C window but could not copy the contents or select it.  This time I got several "Invalid argument" dialogs and only one of the "This property or method is not allowed on this object" dialogs.  I've attached my logs.  Not sure the diff macro change will help here since SE crashed while NOT running the diff.  I can open a different topic to track this if it helps.  Not sure they are related--same dialogs, but they are so generic it might not be the same type of error.

I just crashed SE yet again.  I deleted a couple files that were open in SE and it asked what to do.  I said to "Close Selected" and then SE started with the dialogs again.  This time I noticed an "Invalid object handle" not sure if that was there with my other SE crashes.

Were you using the diff then, or this just happened?

I tried this with a local file and I can't reproduce this so far.

The last one was without a diff as well.  Want me to create a new topic for SE crashes outside of the diff to keep things more clear?

I think that's a good idea.

Are these local files or on some sort of remote mount?

We were finally able to reproduce the problem.  Something about the one option you have set is the problem.

You also have to have the file on the right side open.

They are all local files.  And yes, now that I think about it, the right right side is the open file.  Is what you found specific to the diff?  Or would this effect the other SE editor crashes I saw?

It's possible if you did the diff first, and modify one of those open files, it could be the same problem.

I'm not sure why the newline option is a player.

There are new installers now available with fixes for this problem.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention and your patience getting the specific steps.
