rust installed OK, slickedit says cargo executable not found
« on: December 10, 2018, 09:18:01 pm »
I can 'cargo clean', 'cargo build', and 'cargo run' from bash shell.  however trying to create a cargo project in SlickEdit says "cargo executable not found".  cargo is located at /home/mike/.cargo/bin/cargo.   user 'mike' is currently logged in.  I cant find much rust-specific help in the SlickEdit help text.  cargo version is 1.31.0.

I am running SlickEdit Pro 2017 v22.0.2.1 64bit on Debian9. x64.

Are you launching the editor from a console or an icon?

from the icon slickedit created, the launcher executes this:

"/opt/slickedit-pro2017/bin/vs -sc "/home/mike/.slickedit/" %F"

Try laughing it from the same console that you launched rust from, it may be that the icon isn't getting the PATH.

yes that worked, thanks for the suggestion.  is there a way to configure Rust support so I can use the launcher that SlickEdit installer created?

If you go to the SlickEdit command prompt, and type in "set-var def_cargo_exe_path /home/mike/.cargo/bin/cargo", that should do it.

I think there may be also be a bug in the code that finds the path to cargo, as it is supposed look in $HOME/.cargo/bin, so I'll take a closer look at that later today.  If there is, we'll put it in a hotfix.
