References and "Look in"
« on: January 09, 2019, 06:09:40 PM »
The LookIn dropdown in References always hides the project tag files - making finding the one I want difficult, as I need to hover the mouse over each one individually to find the one I want.

There is no way to make this wider, or scroll right, so its always a pain.

Instead of a drop down, this could just be a scrollable list.
Ideally, a multi-select list so I can pick more than one.

Also, better filtering would be really nice here.
I like include/exclude filename filters like FindInFiles has.

The I could do thing like "exclude: *test*.java", or "include *client*.java".
Also would help if it could filter by namespace/package.
This is really important when trying to locate a fairly common symbol - like "getWidth".

As a workaround, you can make Look In: wider simply by making the References tool window wider.

I appreciate the other suggestions.  References is really working hard to keep things as simple as possible here, conserving space because the good stuff is in that list of results, so you want as much space left for that as possible.

Making references tool wider does not make Lookin wider, it makes "Search for" wider.

You must be talking about the Find Symbol tool window.

The Look In in Find Symbol can also be made wider, but you need to make it tall enough so that adopts the vertical orientation first.
