Opening Untitled and other autosave files
« on: March 06, 2020, 06:38:10 PM »
Is it possible to manually open untitled or other autosave files?
I mean, I know I can go to that directory and open the files.
Is is possible to open them like when they are automatically opened by slick?
Restoring their state properly.

Maybe even an "Open all autosave files"?

Currently, my autosave directory has 75 files dated from 12/17/2017 to 03/06/2020
69 of those are "Untitled*".

It would be kinda nice if Slick would recognize that as a special path so when you open a file in that directory it 'restores' the file.
For example, if I open an untitled file the buffer has a full path, like:
    C:\Users\joe\Documents\Slickedit\24.0.1\autosave\Untitled 2020-03-02 1519
Where it should just be
    Untitled <27>

Interestingly, when I open an autosaved Untitled file, "Backup history" for that file works.

The autosave directory is for temp autosave files and for auto restoring untitled files. While you can use backup history or edit these temp files, it really isn't supported.

It might be nice if backup history for untitled files worked. auto saved files already have a temp file as you've figured out. I'd like to be able to explicitly save Untitled files because I haven't been using autosave (although I probably should).

Untitled <dddd>  -- ddd is the buffer id and can change with the next auto restore. No attempt is made to keep the number the same between edit sessions.
