Global menu support on Linux
« on: July 20, 2019, 05:36:15 PM »
Does SlickEdit support DBus Global Menus on Linux?  I've been playing with macOS-style menus on my Plasma desktop, and it would be nice if the SlickEdit menu showed up in it.

We use libappmenu-qt, but it's only be tested for Unity if I remember right.  What version of Plasma are you running?

Edit: Oh, and what theme you're trying out.

I'm slow today, I don't need the theme.  For Plasma 5.1 that I have on an Ubuntu system, if I add an application menu bar panel, we do work with that.  If there's another way to get a global menu like that, we'd have to look at it.  Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the info, I'm glad its supported.  I'm running Plasma 5.15 on Gentoo Linux.  Gentoo no longer has Qt4 libs, so I have the ones required for SlickEdit installed locally, but it appears I'm missing a couple of libs needed by vs's libappmenu-qt.so.  I'll get those in and see if it solves the issue.

Confirmed!  I added libdbusmenu-qt.so.4, libQtDBus.so.4, and libQtXml.so.4 and now I have working global menus.  Thanks again!
