Debugging binary in cmake project

I'm using the cmake binary for generating a slickedit workspace. It works well and I can build from within slickedit. If I enable a project within the workspace that builds a binary I hoped that I would be able to set breakpoints and start the debugger, but I'm not able to set breakpoints nor start the binary via Debug -> Start.

However, if I start Debug -> Attach Debugger -> Debug Executable (GDB) and select the binary, then I'm able to debug, set breakpoints and watch variables. It would be helpful if the "normal" debug worked since I'm jumping a lot between different generated workspaces, and sometimes I wipe the build directory and run cmake again, effectively starting the workspace and all projects over again. I don't want to browse for the executables all the time.
