Dark theme doesn't affect menus
« on: August 13, 2019, 08:02:21 PM »
In the beta the dark them is not applied to the menu bar or any mouse menus. In v23 it was.  I'm running on Windows 10 1903.

To clarify, you are talking about Windows 10 dark theme (app mode), not SlickEdit's built-in dark theme ?

So it actually is working now using Slickedit but the option to use the Windows theme does not. I changed my config from "Dark" to "System". When I did that I didn't get any dark anywhere. I quit and restart and it was still no dark. I then selected "dark" in the vs config and now everything is working. So something wonky with upgrading from the v23 config I guess.

Windows 10 dark app mode did not work in v23 either.  Qt has not yet added support for that (even in Qt5).  You were probably using SlickEdit's dark mode then also.

Yes, I was. So basically disabling and re-enabling it fixed the problem.

At some point today I noticed that once again menu items were no longer dark. I assume it happened when I restarted this morning. It's not obvious because only the right click and top menus are white in this case. The toolbar backgrounds all stay dark. I fixed this by toggling the dark option to system and back to dark. So something wonky is going on here compared to Slickedit 23.

The problem is consistent now. Every time I hibernate when I wake back up the menus are no longer dark. I just exit and restart Slickedit the problem corrects itself until the next hibernation.

I haven't been able to reproduce this so far. I've tried this on my desktop and laptop which hibernates when it goes into a deep sleep.

Are you running on a laptop?

Yes, a surface book 2. It has the Intel GPU and the Nvidia 1060 that is basically only able to function as a co-processor. And on Windows 1903 the Nvidia doesn't get used at all because of a bug.

I've got the surface laptop (not used much for dev). Love the 3:2 displays. I wouldn't think this would be video driver related.

Just to make sure I understand the problem. After waking up from hibernation, everything in SlickEdit is still in dark theme except the context menus, right?

Correct. The top menu bar (with file, edit, search, etc) is light as well as any right-click menus. All my docked toolbars are dark.

So far I just notice the problem every morning when I get to work. Before going home I hibernate then undock. When I undock to go to meetings and come back things are ok. It is just when I hibernate.
