Easier key mapping
« on: December 11, 2019, 06:37:18 pm »
Assigning a key mapping to a menu command is tedious and requires many steps and too much thinking.
First you have to figure out what the command is.
Then Tools > Options > Keyboard and Mouse > Key Bindings.
Find the command here.
"Add".
Find a suitable key to map it to.

Add a right-click context menu in the main menus to allow a quick assignment of a key to a command.

Example:
Left click "Search"
Right click "Find file ..."
A dialog appears allowing assignment of a key to the "Find file" command.

Or --- since a context menu inside a menu is perhaps a bit unusual - maybe a command-picker.
Inside Key Bindings, add a button to open an instance of the main menu - then I can pick a menu item from there as a way to populate the "Search by command" box.
