Cannot switch debuggers
« on: August 25, 2020, 11:33:22 am »
Long time user, but moving into uncharted territory...
I am using Slick Edit on Windows debugging a 32 bit application written under Visual Studio.

Instead of using the VS debugger I would like to switch to GDB (or whatever debugger also comes with Slick Edit).
Project->Project Properties->Run Debug tab.  I switched from WinDBG to GDB.  Ok.
I then Debug->Start and the VS debugger pops up.
What am I not doing right?

First things first, GDB won't be able to debug an application compiled by Visual Studio on Windows.  Not well anyway.

If you want to use the SlickEdit integration instead of visual studio, you need to use WinDBG.

The reason that Visual Studio came up may be a bug, or may be intentional, it really depends on your project type.  Could you share the project file?
