Wonky symbols
« on: September 15, 2020, 03:53:37 pm »
There definitely seems to be something wonky with symbols in beta3.
Today browsing in my large C# workspace I right-clicked on a class and tried Show symbol in browser.

In "Select Symbol" it listed two lines only - for the two constructors, and didn't have the line for the class definition.

And, it failed to find the symbol in the browser.
So, I launched VS2019 - and it works as expected.

While VS2019 is running, I did "vs +new" to run beta3 again -- now it is able to find the symbol correctly.

Also remember my post about loading my plugin and help not working until I restart slickedit.

I do see a problem with the Symbols tool window that I'm looking into.

You are going to need to give more details if you want me to verify exactly what you are seeing.

Wonky isn't detailed enough?

What do you need, besides my source code :-) ?

Just some sample source that reproduces the problem and a pointer to which file / line / symbol to start from (where to do Show Symbol in browser from).

BTW, I fixed the bug that I found.  Could be related to what you were seeing, could be different.  If you can't get together a test case, you can see if things behave better in beta4.
