Open File: Select browse / open tool dialog
« on: October 09, 2020, 08:58:19 pm »
On a new installation this dialog appears when I do Ctrl+O.
I select Browse and DoNotShowTheseOptions again.

Everytime I restart Slickedit though, it prompts me again.
Somehow the setting for this isn't being saved.

This is on a new installation + import of all my existing options from my main machine.

The following settings should get placed in your user.cfg.xml:
Code: [Select]
<p n="def_open_style" v="0"/>
<p n="def_prompt_open_style" v="0"/>

Maybe the above settings are getting placed in your user.cfg.xml but they are not taking effect some how. This is pretty weird.

def_open_style is set to 0 in user.cfg.xml
def_prompt_open_style does not appear in user.cfg.xml

Interesting ... on my main machine both are in user.cfg.xml.
I changed def_prompt_open_style  to 1, saved, then deleted it and saved again.
Now Open does that prompting dialog first.

And ... def_prompt_open_style doesn't get set in user.cfg.xml.

So it seems if def_prompt_open_style  isn't in user.cfg.xml then you have to manually add it it.

Are you checking “Do not show these options again”? That is what is supposed to set def_prompt_open_style to 0 in user.cfg.xml

yup.
And I can see that variable is set in the current instance, but it doesn't get saved.

I can't reproduce this. Can you reproduce this with a clean config (vs +new -sc new-config-dir) and checking the "Don not show these options again" check box? I definitely need help reproducing this.

I still can't reproduce this.

Try this:

* Start with a clean config
* After cancelling the Quick Start wizard, open your 25.0.0\user.cfg.xml using the SlickEdit command line (e "c:\...\25.0.0\user.cfg.xml" )
* Now bring up the prompted open dialog, make your changes, and press the OK button.
* When the open dialog is displayed, just Cancel.
* After cancelling the Open dialog you should get prompted to "Reload Modified Files". When you do select "Diff Selected". Among the changes you should see the two def vars including def_prompt_open_style in the changes.

Really weird - following your instructions it does not repro.
However, using the same clean config from the other day, it does still repro.
I'll upload the whole config directory to support if you are interested.

That won’t help because you’re reproducing this with a clean config.

Maybe try restarting your machine. It’s a long shot.
