Slickedit requiring sudo
« on: January 13, 2021, 06:02:30 PM »
Hello!
I'm a long time slickedit fan and I'm sure this is my issue but anybody know why slickedit may require sudo to execute suddenly?
RHEL 7.9, Slickedit Pro 2020 (v25.0.0.8 64 bit)

It's installed on my dev system and I don't do development under root, but rather, I use a non privileged user.
If I launch slick under my non privileged user and there are not files in the editor it starts and I can interact with the menu items (etc)... however, an attempt to open a file results in it hanging until I kill it.  It hangs immediately if I launch and the editor had open files associated with it.  If I launch vs via sudo... seems to work fine.

The files in question have appropriate permissions, I've checked for files that happen to be owned by root in my home dir (etc) and pretty much anything else I can think of.
Thoughts?

Try using a default config:

vs -sc /tmp/newconfigdir

Im guessing there's a permission problem either in your config or by something referenced by your config.
