Installing hotfix doesn't overwrite macro files?
« on: May 08, 2021, 07:00:23 PM »
Hi there,

I have small modifications in files.e that I track carefully.  I see that the files.e was changed in the latest hotfix (6) for Slickedit 2020.

I can diff the contents of files.e (from the zip package) vs my modified file.  I see tons of differences from you guys: Great.

However, when I do "install hotfix" the copy of Slickedit's App "macro" folder of files.e won't be updated.

Is that correct?

This is intentional. It simplifies hot fix installs (no admin/root rights needed) and uninstalls (you can uninstall hot fixes).

Thanks for the quick answer.  So if I would be to modify the new hotpatched version of files.e I would copy it from the hotpatch zip into the macros folder and modify it there and load it via F12.  Do I have that right?  Thanks again!

Yes, that will work.
