SE25.2 fails to restart
« on: May 31, 2021, 12:39:19 AM »
Just downloaded and isntalled 25.2, ran it up and all seems OK. Double-clicked a .vpw and the workspace opened as expected (this is on Windows).

Next, I uninstalled 25.0 via control panel. After that, 25.2 wouldn't start either from the program icon, the start menu or double-clicking the .vpw.

However, 25.1 (which I also have installed) does start just as it always did. And 25.2 will start if I append '+new' to the command line. So on the one hand this looks like uninstalling 25.0 did something, but on the other it didn't affect 25.1 and doesn't prevent multiple instances of 25.2. I suspect there is some process or reference stuck somewhere (I checked that vs.exe wasn't orphaned).

An overnight reboot appears to have solved this.

However, I just noticed that double-clicking a vpw caused the SE window and layout to use whatever the vpw says, but opening a vpw from within SE doesn't. Is there an option to set whether or not the current layout is used when opening a previous workspace?

Try going to Tools>Config>Options>Application Options>Auto Restore and turning on "Auto restore workspace files".

Auto-restore workspace, and auto-restore workspace files, are both enabled.
