Even if I check the checkbox "Do not show these options again" the dialog shows each time I choose to open a file. What does that check box indicate if not to stop it from prompting for this and to use my previous choice?
This is with the latest Slickedit on Windows but it has behaved this way for as long as I can remember.

I'm not seeing this in 25.0.2.  A few questions that might help shed some light on the subject:

  • What platform are you on?
  • What emulation are you using?
  • What happens if you try a clean config (run "vs -sc <non existent path you can delete>" from a console window
  • Is anything resetting your configuration, or are you exiting without saving it?

I would like to figure out why you are getting this behavior.  But as a workaround, you can go to Macros>Set Macro Variable... and find the variable def_prompt_open_style.  Set it to 0, and you should not be prompted again.

Windows 10 X64
Default Emulation so I think that is CUI?
Nothing in the editor at all gives me the same results.

Did you try setting the macro variable?

That I did not. I'm not that knowledgeable how to do it outside of the UI.
