( SLE 12 with GDB 64bit on linux )-trouble
« on: July 23, 2007, 12:18:54 pm »
Hi,
i decided to put up a new thread because noone meet exactly this config.
I was experiencing breakpoint trouble with Slickedit 12.0.1
In a special case, though.
I use Suse Server in a 64-bit version, developing 64-bit executables with sle. Therefore I changed the provided gdb to the systems gdb:
Quote
kor@pdxenlin45 (64bit):~/eamis> gdb -v
GNU gdb 6.4.0.20051202-cvs
Copyright 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
GDB is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License, and you are
welcome to change it and/or distribute copies of it under certain conditions.

This GDB was configured as "x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu".

As it turns out, debugging with this gdb directly perfectly works. However using it within slickedit half works, only. I get it to run, but it is not possible to effectively set breakpoints. Seems like a 64/32 bit issue or gdb version incompatibility.
I have to admit that I also have a special case. I develop a lib.so thats loaded by a java process. So I debug java(exe). And even more courious. I use code generation to have one cpp* file become the actually compiled cpp. Since there are #line, however gdb works with it. There is even kgdb that works. SLE does not quite.
Setting breakpoints fails and maybe even more.

Is this probably fixed in the just announced update to version 12?
Or has anyone simmilar problems or even an solution?
Anyways: Just to mention.
