Build markers sidebar gets dirty on buffer scrolling
« on: August 04, 2022, 11:25:24 am »
Noticed that when build buffer scrolls automattically or manually then the markers "sidebar" gets dirty, probably keeps old markers' locations?

You need to turn off Spell check while typing. Tools>Options>Languages>SlickEdit Languages>Process>General.

SlickEdit only spell checks lines of text when they are displayed to you. During a build, many pages never become visible on the screen even though they are added to the build window. Once you scroll all lines of text into view, it is all spell checked. That's why you see added red for misspelled words.

Just a helpful tip here.  If you move your mouse over the document overview bar, it will give you a tooltip about any markup you see.  This would have helped you see that it was spell check.

Spell check OFF on Tools>Options>Languages>SlickEdit Languages>Process>General did the trick, thanks!
Didn't know it's spelling (yes I enabled it globbaly) I thought they are error markers.

Nut now when I tried to see the tooltips pointed by Dennis found another minor glitch: I had SE on the right-screen before building, then moved it on the left-screen and when scrolled over the sidebar the tips appeared on the right screen...  ;)

Does this also happen in your configuration with the minimal tooltips ?

I thought that it was because SE was initialy on the right screen and it happened after I moved on the left screen.
But when I tried today, SE already oened on left screen but those "scrollbar" tooltips are still on the right.

What does it mean "minimal tooltips"? How do I achieve that, some special settings?
The other tooltips (tagging, toolbar, etc) they appear ok (on the screen where SE is)...

Auto-correct.  Grrr.  I was asking about the MINIMAP tooltips.

Minimap tooltips are on the correct screen (they follow SE on its screen): didn't know I have such tooltips (had to enable: right-click: Show -> Tooltip) :-)

I have not been able to reproduce the issue with the document overview bar tooltips appearing on the wrong screen.  The closest I came was if I had a tooltip up and then hit Windows+Shift+Left to flip SlickEdit over to the other screen, the existing tooltip would hang out on the original screen until SlickEdit noticed things had changed.  The next time the tooltip came up, it was always in the correct location.

I am assuming from what I can make out of the screen shot that you are on Windows (don't know what version).  To reproduce this I'd probably have to replicate exactly the steps you did on the same platform and OS release.

Tried again with a clean config "D:\tools\totalcmd\Tools\dev\SlickEdit\core\27.0.0\win\vs.exe -sc "D:\tools\totalcmd\Tools\dev\SlickEdit\temp"" and unfortunately the same.

Code: [Select]

Shell Information: C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe /q
Screen Size: 1920 x 1200 (0 0 1920 1200), 1920 x 1200 (-1920 0 1920 1200)

Spill File: C:\Users\work\AppData\Local\Temp\$slk.5200 (non-removable drive,NTFS,186967MB free)

After starting with the clean config, the only change was in "Tools > Options > Languages > SlickEdit Languages > Process > General" to set the Spell check while typing = True. Then created a demo project and built it and the tooltips apear in the far right of the main screen (in left is screen 2, in right is screen 1 = the main display).
Windows 10 Pro 21H2, x64.

Just a headsup that this happens for me with beta2 too. Not a major issue though, just a funny feature  ;)
Seems that possition of the tooltip is always the extreme right, but the width depends on the SE's width as shown in pictures here, maybe it helps

I'll give it another try later this week.  But so far I have not been able to reproduce the problem.

I am still unable to reproduce this.  I even set up a virtual machine with exactly the screen size and locations that you have.  Are you using any sort of display manager utility (like Nvidia RTX Desktop Manager)?

No Nvidia or other window Managers. I just tested on my son's desktop (I copy-pasted my SE install there) and it happens there too, unfortunately the config is quite similar (Win10 but Home vs Pro, less RAM, another Nvidia card, dual monitors, etc) so maybe it's not so good test:

FINALLY.  Reproduced it.  It only appears to happen for the document overview bar for editor controls embedded in tool windows.
