Right clicking and dragging brings up context menu
« on: August 24, 2022, 08:20:56 PM »
I right click for a context menu, and right click and drag to select columns.  In this latest version, I get the context menu after a right click and drag about 50% of the time.  Very frustrating.

When the context menu appears, do you also get the vertical selection?
Are you doing this quickly, or slowly?

I get the vertical selection sometimes.  There are also times when neither the vertical selection nor the context menu appears, although the menu flashes very briefly.

I do it somewhat slowly since I'm trying to be sure I have the correct placement.  Doing it quickly doesn't make it go away and it seems to do it just as frequently.

Could you be having hardware problems?
Do you have click and drag problems with anything else?

I've tried and I cannot repro this problem with slickedit unless I'm clicking and dragging quickly - but when something goes wrong it seems like is just a timing issue on my part.

yes...double check your mouse buttons in other apps.  I use several Logitech m510 on various computers and go through a new mouse about every couple of years.  There are many articles/videos out there related to click/double-click issues with the Omron D2f switches used in many mice.  Here's one I just searched for...can't find the one I read a while back:
https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/o1jvsy/logitech_and_other_mouse_companies_are_using/

YMMV, but if you are seeing issues in other apps, making peace with the short lifespan of these mice lowered my stress level :)

I have no problems with the mouse buttons in other apps.  Just in SlickEdit.  And just since I upgraded to the most recent version.

I'd like to try regressing to the previous version.  Is there a page with previous versions available?

Thanks!

Is it possible that this is a duplicate of https://community.slickedit.com/index.php/topic,18985.0.html?  In which case, this is fixed for Beta3.
